Mar del Plata Nightlife
One thing for sure is that there is no shortage of
entertainment for the young and old alike.

As well as the cinemas showing all the latest films (in
English) and with popcorn so cheap, that you can buy a
box for each, there are many theatres, shows, street
events and of course the big casino.

Pubs

There are many pubs, some based on English and Irish
styles, but not what I would call a pub in England.  All the
pubs here are child friendly and have wonderful menus.
When you go into a pub, you will find just as many people
drinking coffee as there are drinking beer and wine.  A
wonderful place to watch big football matches on extra
large screens.  Wonderful background music and
different themes.  Drink prices that are unimaginable!

  • The Irish Pub
  • Ronnies (based on an upmarket English pub)
  • The Cuban pub
  • Too many pubs to list

The pubs are always full and most of the time, it is
necessary to reserve a table.

Discos/clubs

There is no shortage of discos/clubs.  Mar del Plata has
two distinct areas called Alem and Constitución.

Alem has nightclub after nightclub.  Each club having it's
own distinct theme, such as English music or latin music.
There are about 40 clubs in  Alem. The door security are
very thorough and check all ID's for age.  Due to the
high rate of fake ID's, many places want to see your
passport.  Many of the clubs do not open before 1 am
and that is considered early.  Many of the club goers
have breakfast before going home.

Most of the clubs in Alem do not charge an entrance fee,
but you must buy at least one drink (a coke costs about
70p).  As well as the clubs, Alem has many many
restauants and cafes.

Constitución is the other side of Mar del Plata and also
request passports to be shown.  Although they have less
clubs, most of the clubs charge entrance fees of around
4 pounds (which includes your first drink).  Some of
these clubs have restaurants with shows and dancing.  A
three course meal (without drinks) costs about 6 pounds
which includes the show and dancing.
Don't fancy dancing? How about playing pool, snooker or ping pong
in one of many different clubs.  These are a very popular pastime and
have time limits when under 18's can play (usually up until 1 am).  After
midnight, you will need to wait for a table, but can enjoy a meal and a
drink in the process.  Some of the clubs have excellent music, but can be
very crowded.  The Argentines are not shy and will ask you to play
against each other, normally the loser buying the drinks, so be ware.

Yet again, prices are very cheap and the hire of a pool table for an hour
is about 1 pound and there is no limit as to how many can play.

There is no membership required.
Fancy a posh evening out without paying a fortune then
how about this for a good deal - four-course meal
including free-flowing champagne and canapes on arrival,
free flowing soft drinks and wine all night, live band
playing 70's and 80's music and dancing, with coffee or
tea to finish - 10 pounds per person at the Sheraton Hotel
- each week the entertainment is changed.

Wonderful service, never allowed your glasses to empty,
you don't even notice the waiters filling up your glass.

Fantastic atmosphere - friendly staff - we even won two
bottles of wine in the raffle and one bottle of champagne
for my birthday - wonderful evening and wonderful
people and everybody dancing - not to be missed!
